Just A Little History

Established in October of 2003 mid-south Louisiana band 9 Slug has accomplished a lot in 2 years.Their style of music is attributed to an embittered outlook on urban society and culture expressed with their frighteningly intense sound. Making their mark with their self-titled album just 2 short months after forming, they continued their momentum through 2004 by playing the local circuit in Louisiana and Mississippi with the assistance of James Outlaw on bass. During that busy year they still found time to write and record their sophomore album titled "Premeditated". Founders, David Boley, Jaide Templet and Kelly Davis wrote and recorded all songs with Jeff Richard stepping in on bass. BOZO is on bass and looking forward to adding his own distinct style and sound to 9 Slug's third project looming in the not too distant future.

Old News

4-29-05
Metal Fest '05 at Smuggler's Cove was a lot of fun. Thanks to all the bands that played, everyone who put it together and all of you that attended. Special thanks to Mike "the Hammer" Rountree for helping to promote all the local bands and coordinating the last minute venue change. It was great to be back at Click's on April 21st with Lucid and Category 5. The response from the crowd and the Click's staff was incredible, making it our favorite
show we've played to date. The new CD is about 95% complete and sounds huge compared to the first one. It shows the hard work and thought we put into it, hence the title "Premeditated". We're hoping to complete and release it by the end of May. Look for a facelift on the website at about the same time. We will begin booking shows once the CD is complete.

3-2-05
The new 9 Slug disc is officially underway! Tentative title for the new record is "Premeditated" and we're starting to play around with ideas for the cover and liner notes. More on that as it comes together.

We have been super busy trying to get everything ready to go into recording. Lots of stuff going on. The biggest news would have to be the personal change. With all the side projects James has going on it has become impossible for him to continue with us and we understand and support his decision. We just consider ourselves lucky that we got to work with him as long as we did. Thanks to James and Gina Outlaw for everything.

But, it’s not like we haven’t done this before right, and we always land on our feet, so… We would like to proudly welcome the one and only Jeff Richard back to the 9Slug madness and just in time to start laying down tracks. We officially start recording Monday February 28, 2005. We will have a camera in the studio to capture the action, so look for some photo updates - and maybe a scratch track just for fun - in the next couple of weeks.
Also thanks to everyone who has been dropping us e-mails. We promise we will be doing some more shows soon.

James Outlaw

5-04 through 2-05 thanks for everything man you are the best!

The last 2 months we have been very busy writing our 10 song sophomore album.
Expect it to be a bit heavier than our first one with added  surprises. We will leak some of the tricks we have up our sleeve next month while we are in the studio recording.

All the guys in the other bands, Keith Craig, Gina Outlaw, Sue and Misty from Cajun Daquiries, Beau, Nate, and everyone else who helped on the haunted house.
